How do I build my business?

I just received an excellent white paper on managing customer databases.  The author talked about the importance of managing your customer database and staying in contact with them on a regular basis.  All of this is excellent stuff, and I recommend it.  Naturally, he was recommending his product.  A databse software, which I am sure is very good.

Here is the important thing, I learned some good information from what he had to say, but I still don’t have to buy his software to put some of his ideas into practice.  I run into people sometimes that think they need to constantly drop more and more money into something and that will make their business successful.  That is simply not true.  Sure, sometimes you need to spend money.  But there is a ton of free information which you can use to decide what is best for your business.  Only spend what you have to, but learn as much as you can.  If you follow this simple rule, you will quickly become successful.
