If You want to be rich – Drop out of School
1 April, 2008, 8:38 pm
Public Service Update: The post below was written to point out the irony that many millionaires are drop outs. I do not, however advocate dropping out. I have noticed a significant portion of traffic coming here looking for “drop of of school.” If you are wondering if that is right for you, it isn’t. In fact, I assure you that I can help you work your way through school with nothing but a computer. That’s what this blog is about. – please Subscribe here, and stay in school. Both will help you to earn more money throughout your lifetime.
I was browsing the list of the world’s richest people the other day. This is actually fascinating to do. You get to see how much money they have, where they made it, and a little bit about them. A person who wants to be successful (however they define it) should seek to know as much as possible about the people who have been successful already.
I might interject here and launch into a long and distracting diatribe about what true success is and why being rich and being successful have very little in common. But I wont bore you with that. But if you subscribe, you may see that in the future.
Instead, just let me point out that of the world’s ten richest people, 4 are drop outs and only 3 seem to have a college degree. My take on that is that if you aspire to middle management in some throw away corporation, you better get a good education. However, if you want to get rich, don’t waste you time in school.
Get out there and sell fish like the Ikea Guy, Ingvar Kamprad.

No Jared, I will not agree with you in toto. I can cite many people in India who possess higher degrees in education and in life, they are very successful. (We have a saying that ‘you cannot put your feet on two boats’. You have to chose one and stay put in it because if you chose both the boats, one fine day, they will float away and you fall bang in the water.) Yes, you can say that the percentage of drop outs & successful is little more than the percentage of highly educated and successful.

Ooops, by successful, I also meant rich, very rich, overly rich, filthy rich.
I have subscribed!
Sangeeta, Good point. I know there are plenty of people around who have a good education and still make money. But the list still stands. Drop outs are among the richest people in the world.
And as for “successful” I know lots of rich people who are miserable failures as well as some successful people who can barely bury themselves when they are gone. But that’s another rant for another day.
I was kicked out of high school during my Junior year (even though I only had credits to be considered a freshman). I am doing better then anyone else in my family right now. Hopefully I’m one that makes that list one day
