Business Etiquette In the Internet Community

etiquette.jpg Do you Get sick of being treated like a used paper plate that people only want to use once and then throw away?

Did you know that when you are doing business behind your laptop you are still dealing with human beings?  People who have plans, goals, feelings, and schedules of their own?

This is similar to an upcoming post which will deal specifically with human interaction online, but I wanted to rant a little bit.

This week several people have contacted me through various means.  They seem to be either asking for help about something they are working on or they have things they would like me to look at for them.

I make it a habit to respond to these sorts of inquiries as quickly as possible, and sometimes people come back with a quick “thank you” or a link for me to look at.  To those of you who operate this way, I offer a heartfelt “thank you.“  It is helpful to know that there are some real people out there.

But for those of you who simply get an answer and never respond, or who initiated with me, and then left me waiting to hear back from you, what is the deal?  When you start something you need to finish it!

Does anyone else have this problem?  I would love it if you would share some experiences in the comments, I may use them for an upcoming post.

Have you felt like you have been treated as “unimportant” by an internet business or individual where you know they would not have treated you that way if they were in front of you?  Please share some of that here.

Jared, it has now become easier for me to get your interesting posts in my mail box. If I am not asking for too much, will you also subscribe for me please? Thanks in advance.

Jared, feel like I might be one of those people this week–”Sorry”. Thanks for asking about ‘how surgery went’. Family member doing well. Have been reading your emails but have not been able to put anything into practice yet. Hope to very soon! Robyn
