Search Engine Optimization: Deeplinking

26 September, 2008, 11:30 am

Friday (yes, my weekend starts on Friday) is deeplinking day.  Today you need to edit some of your old post or static pages and “deeplink” to your own site.  Use keywords in the text, and simply link those words to related posts or other content on your website.

spider.gifIt doesn’t take long, but it will keep the search engine spiders crawling and indexing your site.   It’s also helpful for your users who might be interested in finding other things you have written related to your topic.

If you want to read more about Search Engine Optimization, you can start there.  Did you see what I just did?

Already use deeplinking?

This is a good opportunity to fine tune it. No one is linking to everything on their page that uses keywords, so take a few minutes and find just one keyword on your page you can link to some existing content.

Enjoy and We will see you tomorrow for more SEO tips.

Good reminder! I have been working on cross-linking posts, but have not been very keyword sensitive about it. I will invest some time today to do that.
Thanks!

While attempting to do this assigned task (and thanks) I found a few broken links, mostly one to other blogs I have. I had changed the domain names, but forgot to go back and change the links in my Be the Weight you want blog.
I found a wordpress plugin called ‘broken link checker’ on wordpress. I installed it. It shows you the broken links on your dashboard. Looks like a good tool to keep the links current once you get the deep links established.
Thanks Jared
